APQC's study on the value of benchmarking for core business activities was designed to examine more than just why organizations benchmark; it was designed to understand the value derived from benchmarking. This article examines the key performance indicators (KPIs) for benchmarking success in the following areas: strategic planning, process improvement, mergers and acquisitions, budgeting, establishing and/or managing performance targets, market and/or competitive intelligence (referred to as business intelligence in this article).
