The Value of Benchmarking

Benchmarking continues to be a top tool used by leadership team to support decision making.  APQC wanted to dig deeper and find out what value was being derived from benchmarking. To accomplish this APQC surveyed over 500 people to understand how organizations conduct benchmarking, what functions they are benchmarking, and what are their goals and measures for benchmarking in the following areas:                                                                                                        

  •  Strategic planning
  • Process improvement
  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Budgeting
  • Establishing and/or managing performance targets
  • Market and/or competitive intelligence (includes the development of new products or services)
