Project management offices (PMOs) are moving beyond project management to providing strategic insights and supporting enterprise wide initiatives. In order to more fully understand the role PMOs are playing within their organizations, APQC conducted a survey in July and August 2014 to understand the key characteristics necessary to provide strategic support. This summary report looks at findings on PMO:

  • structures and characteristics,
  • role and responsibilities, and
  • skillsets.
