The MITRE Corp: Combining Strategy, Data Science, and Informatics to Transform Data Into Actionable Knowledge

The MITRE Corp. operates seven federally-funded research and development centers (FFRDCs) that provide its government sponsors with systems engineering, R&D, and IT support. Its principal locations are in McLean, Va. and Bedford, Mass. With 7,800 employees, the nonprofit focuses on solutions involving defense and intelligence, aviation, civil systems, homeland security, health care, judicial systems, and cybersecurity. Based on a presentation to members of APQC's 2016-2017 KM Advanced Working Group, this case study focuses on the tools and approaches that MITRE leverages for anticipatory knowledge delivery.
