Leverage Top-Down and Grassroots Approaches to Identify Critical Knowledge

In APQC's Transferring and Applying Critical Knowledge study, the study team noticed that, regardless of each best-practice organization's specific approach to identify critical knowledge, all of them leverage a combination of top-down and grassroots tactics. In other words, some knowledge is surfaced by business leaders or as part of systematic processes to pinpoint gaps, whereas other knowledge "bubbles up" organically through employee contributions, user feedback, and other mechanisms.
