Focus on the teachable moment and just-in-time learning continues to create a lot of convergence between KM and learning, given that many KM approaches also focus on on-demand access to knowledge and information. Organizations still invest in structured knowledge transfer and lessons learned approaches where learning occurs at predetermined intervals, but the emphasis to connect people to experts and content so they can find information and answers at the moment of need, is now the norm.

This article presents APQC’s teachable moment design framework and outlines suitable KM approaches organizations can use to deliver knowledge at the teachable moment.
