In this article, APQC reviews reporting performance as one building block of an effective diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) program. Reporting performance means using measurement and reporting to assess DEI and holding everyone accountable for doing their part toward achieving an organization’s DEI goals.

Benchmarking DEI-related measures and KPIs helps organizations to:

  • create a baseline to shape a roadmap for action;
  • provide visibility through internal dashboards so every employee can see and work toward common goals;
  • tie DEI goals to recognition, rewards, and incentives;
  • track progress and change course as needed; and
  • hold leaders accountable for doing their part.

After discussing this building block at a high level, APQC draws from its DEI research findings to provide detail about the journey that organizations take as they progress in this area.
