People of Process Management: Generational Differences

In 2023, APQC conducted the People of Process Management survey to gain insight into the people who support process and performance management (PPM) work and better understand their demographics, skills, and education. An analysis of the survey results by generation (including Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, and Gen Z) shows that the people of process are trending naturally with the ages of the workforce.

This article examines the breakdown between the process people by generation. It explores the commonalities and differences regarding demographics, skillsets, education, reporting structures, responsibilities, and career advancement of today's process workers.
