Dr. Carla O'Dell and I Embrace Our Inner Geeks

We have executive buy-in for the analytics research initiative at APQC. And I have recorded video proof of it!

In March, I got the chance to pick the brain of APQC's CEO, Dr. Carla O’Dell’s about why she so fervently believes data and analytics are such an important subject for APQC members to learn more about. Her answer was simple: the data and analytics “revolution” is not some fad that will burn out in a few years (unlike dubstep)—organizations that want to stay ahead of, or even in the general vicinity of, the curve are going to have to educate themselves about data and analytics and find a way to use them to improve their efficiency and produce more value for their customers (not to mention the many other benefits). Dr. O’Dell thinks it’s APQC’s responsibility and privilege to help its members do just that.

Just in case it didn’t come through unambiguously enough in the interview, I would like to declare that I am very excited to research and report on this topic over the coming months. I recently attended the Strata+Hadoop World conference in the heart of Silicon Valley and I must say that this “movement,” as it were, is even bigger than I ever thought. So, keep your eyes peeled for the data and analytics research APQC will unveil in 2016 and beyond and embrace your inner geek!

Your customers and stakeholders will thank you later.
