APQC Promotes Cathy Hill to Newly Created Role of Chief Development Officer

Hill, formerly senior executive director sales and membership, will focus on APQC’s growth overall via strategic relationships and opportunities

(Houston, Texas – July 23, 2019)APQC, the benchmarking and best practices authority, has promoted Cathy Hill to a newly created role as chief development officer. In this market-facing role, Hill will develop strategic relationships, channels and partnerships to accelerate APQC’s growth, expanding access to APQC’s benchmarking, best practices, process and performance improvement and knowledge management content and services to more people worldwide.

“In her years at APQC, Cathy has grown to understand the markets we are in, built businesses side-by-side with our product groups, and personally sold more than $47 million,” says Lisa Higgins, APQC’s president and chief executive officer. “She has the respect of those she works with, understands the complexities of our markets and brings strong relationship skills. With our board’s approval, we created this position to ensure that the products and services we offer, the markets we serve and the outreach we conduct will continue to fulfill APQC’s mission for decades to come. Cathy will tackle this challenge well and accelerate our growth.”

Hill joined APQC in 1993 as an account manager and was quickly promoted to director of business development, leading the sales team. Her career took her away from APQC briefly in 2000, but she returned in 2005 during APQC’s launch of Open Standards Research® to develop the offering for professional services clients. In her most recent role as senior executive director, she oversaw APQC’s strategic vision and planning process for membership and professional services offerings, acted as client director for professional services members and led APQC’s sales, membership and research teams.

“After more than 22 years leading various APQC teams as well as being intimately involved in our data business, I’ve gained insight into factors driving our clients’ use of APQC data and services. This foundation allows me to identify opportunities for market expansion and to evaluate our own innovation and product life cycle options,” Hill says. “My goal is to expand APQC’s presence across the globe and help more organizations discover innovative ways to improve their productivity and quality by using APQC’s resources and data.”

A Houston Baptist University graduate, Hill earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and international business.
