Creating a Culture of Continuous Improvement at Texas Health and Human Services
Creating a culture of continuous improvement is no easy task—it requires significant investments of personnel, time, and other resources. However, the payoff can be substantial.
At APQC’s 2024 Conference, Deputy Executive Commissioner Misti Hair (Office of Transformation and Innovation) and Deputy Associate Commissioner for Strategy and Innovation Sarah F. Roper-Coleman shared insights and strategies from their work at Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) to create a culture of continuous improvement. Through a multipronged approach that includes strategic partnerships, project management support, training, and community resources, the organization’s Office of Transformation and Innovation has helped Texas HHS save millions of dollars and thousands of labor hours, while also driving and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement.
