Order to Cash Performance Assessment
Order to cash is a cross-functional set of processes that involve receiving, processing, and billing customer orders. APQC's Order to Cash research is focused on the main processes across functional boundaries to include the process "manage sales orders" and the process group "perform revenue accounting". The research also includes measures to determine the cost effectiveness of the order to cash processes, cycle times for completing aspects of order to cash, the productivity of the staff dedicated to order to cash processes, and the efficiency of the processes with the scope of APQC's Order to Cash research.
Participating in APQC's Order to Cash performance assessments can help you to:
- Identify areas for process improvement within your organization
- Develop a case for making changes to your order to cash processes
- Develop a plan to improve your order to cash processes.
Measures includes:
- Cycle time in days from transmission of invoice to receipt of payment
- Total cost to perform the order-to-cash processes per process FTE
- Number of FTEs that perform the order-to-cash processes per $1 billion revenue
- Value of customer adjustments/deductions per FTE that performs the processes "process accounts receivable (AR)", "manage and process collections", and "manage and process adjustments/deductions"
- Value per adjustment/deduction processed

Each benchmarking assessment offers an Excel-based data collection tool consisting of the survey itself, the measures associated with the survey, the glossary terms needed to understand the survey, and a copy of the Process Classification Framework (PCF) relevant to the data collection instrument. The consolidated data collection tool is intended to simplify the collection of benchmarking data within your organization.
