It’s the time of year again where we take stock of the trends and challenges impacting process and performance professionals in 2019. In other words what trends and topics are important to you? And even more importantly, what’s impeding the effectiveness of your work?

January is the perfect time to revisit what’s hot—and what’s not—in knowledge management. New tools and techniques crop up all the time, but trends can quickly fizzle out if they don’t deliver the results their proponents promise. So, what’s trending right now, and what does it tell us about the state of KM?

This is the question we were asking as APQC embarked on its most recent training and development research study. We wondered: Has the prevalence of job hopping, layoffs, and flat organizations lessened the value of career development in the eyes of employers and employees?
