Many organizations have adopted computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) software, enterprise asset management (EAM) software, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to help improve daily working capital transactions.

The interesting thing about our knowledge management (KM) taxonomy is that IT falls under KM. From time to time we get a couple of Ask Us requests about IT, and our research isn't as full in the area of IT. 

APQC and other survey results show that few HR functions are working closely with business leaders to set and deliver upon organizational strategy. Most HR functions only occasionally engage with internal client leaders in a business partner, strategic advisor capacity. What are strategic HR partners doing differently compared to all other organizations?

This thing I like to call knowledge management (KM for short) reminds me of another time in my career where having certain skills and experience didn’t seem to make the “big leagues” of professions. Yet, what I learned then seems all too appropriate for what I’m doing today in KM. So much so that I submitted a presentation to KMWorld on the subject, and I’ll be facilitating a discussion there on Wednesday afternoon.

Should social networking be implemented for the supply chain? That is a topic of interest to Adrian Gonzalez of Adelante SCM. He argues in a blog post on Logistics Viewpoints that social networking can be applied to the supply chain because it is “about facilitating people-to-people communication and collaboration, which is at the heart of managing and executing supply chain processes.”

This time of year marks the beginning of the dreaded budgeting season for many finance organizations. The drill requires organizations to go through a ham-fisted process that has business unit managers guessing at revenue growth, costs, and spending patterns for 2014. But today’s finance leaders are growing wary of performing this exercise when they know its applicability will grow stale fast.  Specifically, they are getting tired of having to reconfigure the original plan every time a business condition emerges that voids original budget assumptions.
