Market Your Knowledge Management Program

Last May, I had the pleasure of sitting in on a fabulous breakout session at APQC’s 2012 knowledge management conference in Houston. The session, presented by Kim Harvell Glover and Tamara Viles of Aspen Technology, focused on ways to market and “sell” KM programs to employees in order to increase participation and, ultimately, business impact. Kim and Tamara are fantastic presenters, and what Aspen has achieved with its KM program is remarkable, especially given the relatively small size of the company (around 1300 employees). If you think your organization is too small to really “do KM,” Aspen’s story may surprise you.

Kim and Tamara’s session was so good that we asked them to repeat it last month as part of our monthly KM community call series. If you missed the call, I highly recommend checking out the recording and slides, which are available to the public for the next two weeks.

Kim and Tamara were also generous enough to share some of the tools they use in their KM practice, two of which are linked below. (Note: These are available to APQC members.)

And finally, if you’re interested in APQC’s perspective on KM branding and marketing, here’s a selection of content pieces from our Knowledge Base. The first one is free to the public.
