An organizational learning needs analysis is a formal assessment of all the learning needs that an organization has. It is typically conducted by the learning and development function but relies on input from across the organization.

In the article, Organizational Learning Needs Analysis: Key Objectives, Inputs, and Outcomes, APQC outlines the benefits of conducting an organizational learning needs analysis and overviews the key steps involved. As they work through these steps, learning and development professionals can use this worksheet to identify and prioritize organizational capability gaps.

Once capability gaps have been identified and prioritized, they can be documented and described using our Organizational Learning Needs Analysis: Results Summary Template.  Learning leaders can use the results summary to confirm alignment with learning stakeholders and then guide learning design and development.
