This report explores responses to APQC’s Open Standards Benchmarking® assessment in talent development.

In 2024, HR leaders with responsibility for talent development answered questions about their organization’s development practices. A subset of questions focused on the practices used to develop HR talent. These questions explored:

  • the level of investment in developing HR talent,
  • the most important skills for the HR function today, and
  • the development of data analysis and digital worker expertise in HR

This report summarizes and provides insights on retail and wholesale industry responses to questions about HR talent development. Organizations can use this information to benchmark and identify areas for improvement.
