Reconciling Process Management and Data Governance

All data are not created equal. Certain data types – mainly those that interact with multiple business processes – are prone to potentially devastating inconsistencies. 

In this article, we define and discuss data governance in the context of process management and the Process Classification Framework (PCF)®. We then offer guidance to help business leaders:

  • develop a strategic approach to data governance,
  • identify appropriate data owners, and
  • adopt or adapt a data governance framework.
