MSI Reproductive Choices (MSI) is an international nongovernmental organization (INGO) that provides reproductive healthcare including contraception, safe abortion services, and post-abortion care. With its main support office in London, MSI operates in 37 countries and has nearly 9,000 employees around the world. As an INGO that provides reproductive healthcare, MSI navigates a complex legal and regulatory environment. Reproductive healthcare is governed by laws and regulations that vary widely between countries and regions.

APQC spoke with Nicola Mwase-Vuma, Finance Policy and Capacity Lead, about the organization’s finance talent management practices and processes. Mwase-Vuma shared insights about the organization’s approaches to talent acquisition, talent development, and retention, as well as the measures and KPIs that help to sustain these approaches. Along the way, Mwase-Vuma also shared how the finance function develops policy and strives for improvement across the organization’s major regions and programs.
