Classic Knowledge Transfer Approaches: Identification and Transfer of Critical Job-Related Knowledge

APQC has conducted three large-scale best practices studies to investigate how organizations identify, capture, and transfer critical knowledge. Throughout this research, one of the consistent findings has been that variety is crucial.

This article describes two aspects of knowledge retention and transfer—the identification and transfer of critical job-related knowledge—using examples from the following organizations: Kraft Foods Group Inc., Lloyd?s Register: Marine, Michelin North America, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and Rolls-Royce.
