In this article, APQC reviews five key performance indicators that assess the overall health of the HR function at a high level:

  1. HR cost per $1,000 revenue,
  2. HR cost per employee,
  3. number of employees per HR full-time equivalent (FTE),
  4. number of HR FTEs per $1 billion revenue, and
  5. number of HR administration FTEs per $1 billion revenue.
