Centralized and decentralized models each come with obvious tradeoffs and benefits. When putting together or revamping a knowledge management (KM) program, some of the first decisions to make are about the scope and structure of that program.

This article uses analysis from APQC’s 2022 KM Program Benchmarks and Metrics research to explain trends in KM program models and highlight the benefits of centralized KM programs compared to decentralized and hybrid models.
