APQC focused its 2013 Transferring and Applying Critical Knowledge Best Practices Study on strategies and processes for identifying, capturing, transferring, and applying critical knowledge inside organizations. One theme observed across the study's best-practice organizations is that they supplement their knowledge management (KM) core teams by recruiting employees in the business units to assume some responsibility for enabling, promoting, and/or championing knowledge sharing.
