Many organizations have at least four generations of employees in their workforce: baby boomers (1946-64), Generation X (1965-1980), Generation Y (1981-1996), and Generation Z (1997-2012). Engaging all of them can be difficult, especially since each generation has unique preferences and values. Challenging as it is, the stakes of engaging these employees are high.

In this article, we highlight gaps in the employee experience that drive disengagement for each of these generational groups and provide guidance for how you can close the gaps. In many cases, closing them doesn’t necessarily require hard dollars as much as a willingness to listen to employees and find creative ways of addressing their pain points.
