APQC CEO Carla O'Dell talked with Sherry Turkle, as part of the "Big Thinkers, Big Ideas" interview series. Turkle has spent the last 30-plus years studying the psychology of people's relationships with technology, especially their digital devices and life on the screen. She is a licensed clinical psychologist, the founder and director of the MIT Initiative on Technology and Self, and the author of five books. In her new book, "Reclaiming Conversation: The Power of Talk in a Digital Age," Sherry examines how smartphones and social media have crowded out real conversation.
