This best practice has been updated from the original published in 2011. Process models aren't tiny add-ons that make process management work better. They are essential to an organization's understanding of its processes and how they interact. Without process models, it would be difficult to visualize which measures to use, where the causes of issues and outcomes lie, and how resources should be allocated.
