Payroll Performance Assessment
Do you know the most effective and efficient business model to achieve the highest level of efficiency at the lowest cost in payroll processes? Should payroll be outsourced? Find out by completing the Payroll Open Standards Benchmarking Assessment.
APQC’s research extends beyond basic cost and personnel questions to examine business models, use of technology, and business processes employed by leading organizations.
Payroll processing is the payment of salaries and wages in accordance with organizational policies and government regulations. This includes maintenance of records, calculations of salaries, wages, allowances, deductions, and distributions of paychecks. it also includes payment of incentives and "banking" of future incentive amounts as appropriate. Along with payroll processing APQC also has information on report time, manage pay, and many other categories.
Some key metrics gained from this assessment include:
- Cycle time in business days to resolve a payroll error
- Personnel cost of the process group "process payroll" as a percentage of the total cost to perform the process group
- personnel cost to perform the process group "process payroll" per $1000 revenue
All submissions to APQC's benchmarking database, both Open Standards Benchmarking and Rapid Performance Assessments, must be collected using APQC's easy-to-use Microsoft Excel data collection instruments. Please download a fresh copy of the assessment file by clicking the “Download Survey to Start Assessment” button.
Each benchmarking assessment offers an Excel-based data collection tool consisting of the survey itself, the measures associated with the survey, the glossary terms needed to understand the survey, and a copy of the Process Classification Framework (PCF) relevant to the data collection instrument. The consolidated data collection tool is intended to simplify the collection of benchmarking data within your organization.
