A Toolbox for Process Excellence from McLean Management Services

As a management consultant trained by some of the top process experts in the world, Michael McLean (Managing Director, McLean Management Consultants) knows that there is no single “best” approach to process work. At APQC’s 2023 conference, McLean shared some of the most effective tools that he has used and developed over the years, including: 

• An approach developed by McLean called “keep, change, create;” 
• the OODA loop, a decision-making framework; 
• process frameworks and architectures like process models and process maps; 
• pyramid analysis, a tool for thinking more deeply about creating change in an organization; and 
• the ISO 9000 quality systems development handbook. 

These tools help organizations and process teams to gain high-level visibility into processes, activities, and value streams as they build, maintain, or transform their processes and management systems.
