A Natural Pair: Centrally Managed, Formal Project and Knowledge Management

Enterprise project management and knowledge management (KM) approaches go hand-in-hand. The documentation and sharing of relevant knowledge always has the potential to improve project outcomes; but organizations with formal project management methodologies, defined stage-gate reviews, and centralized project support are in the best position to benefit from KM. This article describes how KM approaches naturally fit in a centrally managed, formal project management process with research from APQC's Managing Project Knowledge study.
