Learning & Development Blueprint for Success: Executive Summary

Recent years have seen unprecedented levels of transformation and disruption in the global business environment. Technological advances, a shift to remote work, and the accelerating rate of change itself mean that organizations are increasingly looking to contain costs while at the same time equipping their employees with the requisite skills and managing the risks inherent in this ever-shifting landscape. 

These changes have redefined what it means to be an effective learning and development (L&D) function. APQC developed the Learning & Development Blueprint for Success to guide learning professionals in meeting the demands of this new learning landscape. Using the structure of APQC’s Process Classification Framework (PCF)®, this blueprint lays out the major processes for training and developing employees. It outlines key performance indicators for these processes as defined by APQC’s Open Standards Benchmarking® database.
