Stakeholder engagement is an essential component of any healthy knowledge management (KM) program. Although there are many ways to boost support for KM among colleagues, one of the most foolproof is to find and empower KM champions. KM champions are employees who do not have KM-specific roles, but devote some of their time (officially or unofficially) to supporting knowledge sharing and reuse in their area of the business. This means they can provide hands-on support and visible advocacy, and they can explain KM in ways that make sense to their peers and colleagues.
