Financial Shared Services: The Relationship between Performance and Scope, Governance, and Maturity

Details

What are the hallmarks of top performance in financial shared services? What do the winners do in a well-organized fashion that sets them apart? In January 2017, APQC presented a webinar that showcased fresh metrics on financial management processes that are performed within shared service centers (SSCs). APQC collected these metrics on behalf of ScottMadden, a consultancy specializing in this area.

This report summarizes the analyses shared by ScottMadden partners, Brad DeMent and Trey Robinson, who joined APQC’s Principal Research Lead for Financial Management, Mary Driscoll, the moderator on New Benchmarks for Shared Services (Webinar). This article covers SSC scope, maturity, governance, and structure.
