Recently I had the opportunity to talk to one of the MosaiQ™ advisory council members, Claire Wybrow, enterprise business architect at Allegient, LLC., about her experience with using MosaiQ in the beta environment.
What are some of the big challenges you have faced recently?
A big challenge Allegient always faces is helping our clients learn how to ask and answer the question “why?” It’s helping them figure out what they’re really looking for and what methods they might not have yet considered for achieving their objectives. That’s the approach we train all our consultants to take: Seek to build the right thing to meet the right business need. That’s one of the reasons process management is so important: It helps companies understand what they are trying to accomplish, what steps are involved, and why they need to improve their practices and processes.
What initially attracted you to MosaiQ and what has it done for you organization so far?
We’ve spent the past three years building out an enterprise process framework for a global manufacturing company. During that project, we manually manipulated APQC’s cross-functional and industry-specific Process Classification Frameworks® in Excel, figuring out which processes needed to be removed, added, and reordered. This required a lot of time-consuming manipulation in Excel for the people executing the project.
What interested me about MosaiQ was the ability to do that same type of work in a cloud-based tool where we could pull in a framework or pieces of multiple frameworks as a starting point, click and drop elements effortlessly where we wanted them to make a framework unique to our needs—all using a much more intuitive interface.
What do you plan on doing with the final version when it’s released?
Ultimately, we see MosaiQ helping answer the question “so what?” You have the process defined, but what will you do now? How are other people performing on that process? Are there other ways we could measure our own performance on that process?
