U.S. Manufacturing Isn't Dead: Apple Plans to Bring Manufacturing Jobs Back to the U.S.

Over the past year, an increasing number of stories about companies moving manufacturing operations back to the United States have been making their way into the news. The idea of creating more well-paying manufacturing jobs in the United States and offering products made in the USA has been building momentum for quite some time, and it seems that companies are taking notice of the benefits of re-shoring by turning the idea of doing so into action.

A recent article on CNET.com by Dara Kerr reports that Apple executives have decided to create more manufacturing jobs in the United States and move some of its production from China to the United States.  The article reports that Apple has plans to build a manufacturing facility in Mesa, Arizona, which would create more than 2,000 jobs. Apple has also unveiled plans to open up an additional manufacturing facility in Texas to manufacture the Mac Pro and an AppleCare repair facility in Pennsylvania.

Will more organizations follow Apple’s lead and make plans to create manufacturing jobs in the United States?  Has your organization recently moved manufacturing operations back to the United States? If so, we would like to hear your organization’s story.
