Must Reads on Going Green

It’s no secret that “going green” is a hot topic among consumers and organizations alike. Consumers are becoming increasingly interested in where the products they purchase come from and how those products impact the environment. This can be seen in the rising popularity of Sourcemap.org, an open-source Web site that allows consumers and organizations to map the carbon footprint of products (and the materials that make up those products). Additionally, governmental regulations are placing more pressure on organizations to determine the environmental impact of their processes. All of this adds up to a more intense focus on how organizations affect the environment.

So how does this affect your sourcing strategies and your bottom line? Earlier this year APQC spoke with John Wilkerson of Bellwether Services and Pamela Gordon, president and founder of Technology Forecasters Inc. to get their take on green sourcing. Both provided valuable insight into the case for green sourcing as well as advice for organizations looking to initiate green sourcing practices. These articles are must reads, whether you are already going green or are just getting started.
