Adopt Network Optimization Tools to Model the Supply Chain Network

In supply chain decision making, companies no longer prioritize cost alone. APQC's research in supply chain planning and analysis of its Open Standards Benchmarking data reveal several drivers of performance that fall into three categories: strategy and culture, process, and technology. 

Within technology, a performance driver of supply chain planning is adopting network optimization tools to model the supply chain network. For example, tools are available to optimize the sourcing of raw materials, balance truck loads with shipment dates, classify inventory based on risk, and more.
