A Well-Designed Launch Process Positions Communities of Practice for Success

Some best-practice organizations featured in APQC’s 2017 Next-Generation Communities of Practice research have detailed, step-by-step launch processes to prepare new communities of practice to open their doors. Others take a less formal approach, but still have clear procedures in place for founding new communities. This article provides simple guidelines for establishing a launch process and shares examples from ENGIE, Accenture, Nalco Water, Medtronic, and a financial services organization.
