How concerned are supply chain professionals about supply chain disruption risk? In April 2013, APQC conducted a survey to gauge the extent to which supply chain executives and finance managers are concerned about three risk factors to supply chain stability:

  • high-impact natural disasters,
  • extreme weather, and
  • political turmoil in important world regions.

Survey respondents were asked to indicate whether certain obstacles to supply chain risk management applied to their organizations. The results indicate that factors involving suppliers are two of the most common obstacles to managing risk.
