The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is a cabinet-level department of the United States Federal Government comprised of 10 diverse government agencies including the CDC, FDA, NIH, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Successfully implementing ERM means finding a framework that can remain flexible across diverse agencies.

In January 2021, APQC interviewed Christine Jones (Deputy Assistant Secretary for Operations and Management in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Financial Resources) and Debra Elkins (Director of Enterprise Risk Management) about the organization’s ERM program. Jones and Elkins shared insights about:
