Eight Features of Effective Communities of Practice

APQC’s 2017 Next-Generation Communities of Practice study identified eight features that are statistically linked with community effectiveness:

  1. a community site or portal,
  2. webinars,
  3. content libraries,
  4. mobile apps,
  5. expertise location tools,
  6. Q&A forums,
  7. embedded social networking, and
  8. wikis.

This article discusses each of these community of practice features with examples from the best-practice organizations featured in the study.
