Nathanael Vlachos

Senior Writer and Instructor

Nathanael "Than" Vlachos, Ph.D., is a senior writer and instructor at APQC, where he transforms research and best practices into practical guidance that helps organizations improve performance. He develops articles, white papers, case studies, research reports, webinars, and other thought leadership content covering topics such as human capital management, supply chain management, financial management, process and performance management, and knowledge management. As an instructor, Than teaches APQC's Global Thought Leadership Institute (GTLI) Producer course and contributes to webinars that help professionals apply research-based insights in their organizations.

With academic training in philosophy and cultural anthropology, Than brings a unique perspective to understanding how people, culture, and organizational systems influence performance. His primary research interests include organizational culture, human capital management, and supply chain management. Before joining APQC, he spent nearly eight years researching, writing, and teaching as a cultural anthropologist, including a year conducting fieldwork in South Africa, and built a career as a freelance writer, researcher, and digital content editor.

Than has more than a decade of experience in business, nonprofit, and academic communications. His work has appeared in publications including HR Executive, CFO Magazine, Supply & Demand Chain Executive, and the Journal of Supply Chain Management, Logistics, and Procurement. He is passionate about making complex ideas accessible and actionable, helping organizations use research to make better decisions and achieve meaningful results.
