Jeffery Varney

As a director and member of APQC's management team, Jeff Varney helps organizations improve performance through business process management, knowledge management, custom benchmarking, quality management, and performance measurement initiatives. He partners with clients to assess capabilities, develop strategies, lead improvement projects, and deliver engaging training programs and workshops, drawing on Lean, Six Sigma, and change management principles to help organizations achieve lasting results.

Jeff has extensive experience leading enterprise initiatives across software development, banking, insurance, defense, and aerospace. He supports APQC's research in process management, particularly in the area of Project Management Offices (PMOs), and has served as a subject matter expert, instructor, webinar presenter, and conference speaker on topics including process management, organizational change, PMOs, knowledge management, and benchmarking. As an instructor, Jeff teaches APQC's process management, process improvement, knowledge management, project management, and benchmarking courses, helping professionals apply proven best practices to real-world challenges.

Before joining APQC in 2006, Jeff was PMO director for CSC's Banking Solutions Group, where he established a unified project management office across multiple organizations. Throughout his career, he has led technology and process improvement initiatives for organizations including CSC, Raytheon, and McDonnell Douglas, advancing PMI certification efforts, SEI CMM and ISO 9001 adoption, Six Sigma programs, balanced scorecard reporting, and high-performing teams. A frequent speaker at industry conferences, including the Building Business Capabilities Conference and Project Management Institute events, Jeff brings decades of practical experience to every client engagement and training session.
