APQC Names Houstonian John Durie to Board of Directors

Redstone Group CEO & President and 35-year banking veteran to bring financial acumen and local insights as leader for the Houstonian Campus

(Houston, Texas – June 25, 2019)APQC, the benchmarking and best practices research firm, has elected John P. Durie, CEO & President of Redstone Group, Ltd., to its board of directors.

“We invited John to join the APQC Board of Directors to represent our 40-year collaboration with the Redstone Group in making our campus a unique oasis in the heart of Houston,” says Carla O’Dell, APQC’s chairman of the board. “The Houstonian and APQC are unique contributors to, and beneficiaries of, the entrepreneurial spirit and vision that created Houston. Beyond our local heritage, John’s experience as a CEO, COO and CFO bring well-rounded insight to advise our organization.”

Redstone Group is a Houston-based investment firm that oversees various companies on the Houstonian Campus, including the Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa, part of the vision for the campus by APQC founder Jack Grayson and other leaders in 1980. Other Redstone Group investments on the campus include the Redstone Office Building, Tribute Restaurant, The Manor House and Arbor Grill.

Prior to joining Redstone Group, Durie was an executive vice president and chief financial officer of Green Bancorp, Inc., a publicly traded bank holding company with approximately $4 billion in total assets, which merged with Veritex Holdings, Inc. in 2019. Durie also served as president and chief operating officer of Northwest Bank, N.A. and in various managerial positions with First Interstate Bank of Texas and First Interstate Bank of Oklahoma.

Durie serves as chairman of the board for The Simmons Foundation, a Houston-based private foundation that partners with non-profit organizations focused on helping individuals lead productive, fulfilling and responsible lives with dignity and respect. He is a member of the advisory board of Pathways for Little Feet and an elder at Christ the King Presbyterian Church. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BBA in Finance.
