Chillicothe Municipal Utilities is a community-owned organization that provides electricity, water, wastewater collection, and refuse collection for the city of Chillicothe, Missouri. While the organization only has around 50 employees, building an ERM program required Chillicothe Municipal Utilities to meet a range of challenges related to engagement, process standardization, and structure.

In January 2021, APQC interviewed Katie Bolling (Director of Finance) about the organization’s ERM program, including:

  • how the organization worked to secure buy-in for a culture of ERM;
  • the scope and structure of ERM; and
  • the organization’s risk processes and practices.
