Shared services centers are the result of combining common or repetitive processes from multiple business units and centralizing them into one location. Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are often used to define and document the cost, quality, and specification of services provided by the shared services center. The goal of creating a shared services center is to achieve improved efficiencies and economies of scale while providing a high level of service to business units. As a result, business units are able to spend more time performing higher-value-added tasks.
