This measure calculates the percentage of total freight charges that are premium freight charges. Premium freight charges arise when delivery of materials is completed in an expedited fashion; shipments are typically booked between four hours and five days prior to pick up. It is part of a set of Supplemental Information measures that help companies evaluate additional variables not covered elsewhere for the "operate outbound transportation" process.
