Technology is only one component of a comprehensive KM strategy, but it still plays an important role in enabling knowledge capture, sharing, and reuse. According to analysis of data from APQC's KM Capability Assessment Tool, organizations can improve their chances of selecting the right KM applications and implementing them successfully by conducting an IT needs assessment prior to making technology decisions, standardizing the KM toolkit enterprise-wide, and integrating KM software into the overall IT strategy.
