When an organization launches a new or revamped knowledge management strategy, it often selects pilot projects to test and prove out that strategy. Among the most important criteria for a successful KM pilot project are:

  1. Alignment with the organization's strategic objectives and core business processes
  2. High probability that the project will produce positive, measureable results
  3. Sufficient scalability to support expansion beyond the initial scope.
