Electronically Monitoring Knowledge Worker Performance
Globalization, the gig economy, and the widespread move to remote work have limited many managers’ views into what, exactly, their direct reports are up to on a day-to-day basis. Monitoring can give managers a greater sense of control in these scenarios. This article presents research and expert opinion regarding electronic monitoring of knowledge workers including potential benefits and risks, limitations when it comes to trying to use EPM to measure knowledge work, key practices, and alternative approaches.
