At Eli Lilly, knowledge mapping has become a vehicle to tackle knowledge hoarding behaviors and enable technical experts to distill their knowledge into critical skillsets that can be transferred to others. As a capstone to this project, the organization needed a quantifiable measure to prove that knowledge has been absorbed and full embraced by each site. This presentation describes a tool for measuring behavior and “ownership” of knowledge, which was inspired by the DuPont Bradley Safety Curve and APQC's KM Maturity assessment.
